Your family photo session

experience

Family is where my heart is and I have no doubt you feel the same. I use the intangible beauty of analog photography to reflect your authentic love and connections. Your session will be comfortable and familiar since it will be in and around your home, leaving you with space to simply enjoy your family.

01

Before your session

I try to do my absolute best to make sure all my families feel fully prepared going into their photo session. Some of the things I include in every session to ensure this are:

^

A pre-session questionnaire so I can get to know you and your family better.

^

A prep guide to answer all your burning questions.

^

Plenty of communication so you’re never left in the dark.

A black-and-white photo of two children sitting on the floor, smiling at each other. One child holds an open book. Books are visible on the shelf in the background, and both wear patterned sweaters.

“Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink in the wild air.”

A young child with curly hair bends over, closely examining something on a sandy beach under bright sunlight.

what to expect

To reserve the time and date for your session, you’ll fill out some short paperwork and pay the Session Fee of $800. This is all online in my convenient client portal. The system will walk you through the whole thing, so it really couldn’t be easier! The Session Fee covers my preparations for your session, film processing, editing, and the resulting digital images with print release. It does not include physical products, but you’ll have the opportunity to purchase any artwork you’d like from my online gallery store.

^

My sessions typically take 2-3 hours, but I do stay flexible in case we need to take a break for any reason.

^

Your session will take place in and/or around your home. I’m more than willing to work with you on a time that works best for your family!

^

If you have a particular date or holiday by which you need prints or gifts (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc.) be sure to book a date at least two months in advance of that date to ensure significant processing and printing time.

02

During and after your session

I like to make my sessions light, fun, and natural. Expect minimal posing, but some prompting and guidance to achieve those authentic reactions and connections. My family sessions feature love, connection, and your true selves!

I will send your film off to my professional lab for processing on the next business day and then we wait for the big reveal!

what to expect

While my sessions do not include physical artwork, I highly encourage my clients to print their images! I’ve curated a large variety of beautifully crafted pieces to include in my online gallery store to make printing your images super easy!

Crystal made it so easy for us

Our session was very last minute and as a family we were pretty unprepared, but you would have never guessed it by the way our photos turned out. High quality, detailed, and Crystal made sure to catch our more flattering angles. She is my new go-to.

Crystal Berry is very talented

She took our family photos and we were very impressed. Crystal has lovely positive energy that kept my little kids engaged throughout the session. She was well prepared with recommendations on coordinating outfits, potential sites for the session and ideas for the photoshoot. The whole session felt very natural and engaging, we had a lot of fun as a family. Love the edits she produced. Highly recommend!

Crystal did an amazing job capturing the true essence of our family!

We had Crystal provide family photography as we prepared to bid mom/wife goodbye amidst a terminal diagnosis. Crystal met us at family home and was able to work with us to provide the most treasured final memories. The photos reflect every element of raw emotion we faced that day. Joyful memories and celebration coupled with pure authentic love and compassion. Crystal was gracious and patient and gave us freedom within creative process. Thank you Crystal for the incredible gift of allowing us to see beauty in family and to have these incredible heartfelt pictures to hold dear.

FAQ’s

How do I know if you're the right photographer for my family?

The easiest way to figure this out is to get in touch with me. If you’d rather talk by phone, I’m more than willing to set up a call with you to discuss any questions you may have!

What makes you different?

While I like to think it’s my stunning personality, what really sets me apart is the fact that I deliver beautiful, authentic family photos using film photography while keeping my sessions relaxed.

How do I schedule a session with you?

Just fill out my handy contact form. I’ll get back to you within a couple of business days!

Where are you located?

I am in Oregon, WI, but serve the greater Madison and Dane County area.

What do we wear?

Don’t stress too much about this! Mostly I want you to feel comfortable and as much like yourselves as possible.

Where are your sessions?

My family sessions are in your home, your backyard, or any other place that is special to your family.

A smiling woman with red hair lays her hand on a bearded man's shoulder, both looking at each other affectionately. the setting appears intimate with soft lighting.

“Life is the flower for which love is the honey.”

A little girl is wearing a coat and hat as snow falls around her though the background is still green.
What if it looks like rain?

I’m more than happy to hold your session inside your home, but I absolutely can and do reschedule sessions because of inclement weather if need be. I’ll be checking in a couple days before our session to confirm, so we can make any rescheduling plans then!

What if my child is coming down with the flu?

Yikes! That’s no fun and I’ve definitely been there. Again, I’ll be in touch a couple days before our scheduled session, so if someone isn’t feeling well at that time, we can talk about rescheduling.

What if my child is really shy?

Try not to stress if your kids are shy – I want to capture who they are and the connections they have with you. If it means they get a few extra snuggles, all the better!

What if I have a wild child??

This is totally ok, too! Kids have all different levels of energy (trust me, my three span the whole range). I’m used to chaos and can absolutely get beautiful images of your child however energetic they are.

What if my spouse/child isn't into it?

I don’t force it! A big part of what I do is build connections with people to make them feel comfortable. I want everyone to enjoy this time, so I’m more than willing to meet them where they are.

What if my child is misbehaving?

If a kid is acting up, we might take the focus away from them for a bit so they can cool off. They can hang out while I get some photos of parents. One thing to note is I’ve found that children are usually more willing to listen to adults who are not their parents, so while I, of course, won’t be disciplining your children, I have no problem giving them straightforward direction if needed.
